We get out our nerdy wonk hats as we dive into media and politics. After being horrified by the current state of music, we dive into the coverage of politics. We discuss the effect on a free and robust press when that same press relies on ratings and advertising. We relate this to the way the media has been covering Trump with the desire to make the election closer than it is. We talk about false equivalencies in the Clinton Foundation and Trump Foundation and the media malpractice of normalizing the absurdity of Trump. We muse the effect on an informed population when the media refuses to inform and seeks to entertain. This leads us to talk about the new regulations in YouTube that de-monetizes any topic that is controversial specifically targeting news and education channels. We talk about the real threat to free speech which is not social justice warriors wanting political correctness, but the structure of capitalism, corporatism, and advertising.
